A limited liability partnership ("LLP") is a vehicle for doing business, combining the limited liability feature of a limited company and the flexibility of the internal organization of a general partnership. This research studies how solicitors limit their liability through LLPs or professional standards schemes in England and Wales of the United Kingdom, New York of the United States, and New South Wales of Australia. It covers background of the adoption of LLPs/liability capping legislation, nature of LLPs, eligibility and applicability, scope of liability limitation, and regulation and safeguards to protect the interests of the parties concerned and members of the public.
