1. Proposed construction of an urban tactical training complex
At the Public Works Subcommittee meeting on 26 November 1997, the Administration withdrew the funding application for the construction of an urban tactical training complex at Kong Nga Po, Man Kam To and agreed to provide further information on the proposal.
2. Measures to improve the control on dangerous goods
The Administration is reviewing the need to tighten the control on the transportation of dangerous goods by vehicles, which is expected to be completed by mid-1998. Based on the findings of the review, the Administration would consider introducing legislative amendments to tighten the control on the transportation of Categories 3 and 4 dangerous goods before end 1998, and other categories of dangerous goods in 1999. The Administration is also conducting a comprehensive review of the Dangerous Goods Ordinance to bring it into line with the prevailing international standards. It aims to introduce legislative amendments to the Ordinance in the second half of the 1998/99 legislative session.
