Issue No. 22 (15 June 2006)
At its meeting on 14 June 2006, the Legislative Council passed the following two bills:
(1)
Freight Containers (Safety) (Amendment) Bill 2006, with
amendments proposed by the Secretary for Economic Development and Labour
at Committee Stage.
(2)
Securities and Futures (Amendment) Bill 2005, with
amendments proposed by the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury
at Committee Stage.
At the same meeting, the Council passed the following four resolutions:
(1)
Resolution
moved by the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury relating to the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes (General) (Amendment) Regulation 2006
.
(2)
Resolution
moved by the Secretary for Security relating to the Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters (Israel) Order
.
(3)
Resolution
moved by the Secretary for Security relating to the Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters (Poland) Order
.
(4)
Resolution
moved by Hon SIN Chung-kai relating to the extension of the period for amending the Protection of Endangered Species of Animals and Plants (Exemption for Appendix I Species) Order and the Protection of Endangered Species of Animals and Plants (Exemption for Appendices II and III Species) Order
.
The following two motions with no legislative effect were also passed by the Council:

Motion on
"Vigorously promoting the development of social enterprises", moved by Hon Mrs Sophie LEUNG LAU Yau-fun
.
(2)
Motion on
"Measures to combat drink driving", moved by Hon LAU Kong-wah as amended by Hon Andrew CHENG Kar-foo
