At its meeting on 9 April 2008, the Legislative Council passed the following bill: Pneumoconiosis (Compensation) (Amendment) Bill 2008, with amendments moved by the Secretary for Labour and Welfare at Committee Stage. At the same meeting, the Council passed the following two resolutions: (1) Resolution moved by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development relating to the Trade Descriptions (Definition of Diamond) Regulation. (2) Resolution moved by Hon Miriam LAU Kin-yee relating to the extension of the period for amending the Interpretation and General Clauses Ordinance (Amendment of Schedule 6) Order 2008. The following two motions not intended to have legislative effect were also passed by the Council: (1) Motion on "Elderly housing policy", moved by Prof Hon Patrick LAU Sau-shing as amended by Hon Frederick FUNG Kin-kee, Hon James TO Kun-sun, Hon Mrs Selina CHOW LIANG Shuk-yee, Hon SIN Chung-kai, Hon CHAN Yuen-han, Hon Albert HO Chun-yan and Hon LEE Wing-tat. (2) Motion on "Raising the limit of university places for publicly-funded degree programmes", moved by Hon Fred LI Wah-ming as amended by Hon Miriam LAU Kin-yee, Hon CHEUNG Man-kwong, Hon Jasper TSANG Yok-sing, Dr Hon YEUNG Sum and Dr Hon Joseph LEE Kok-long.
