I.Election of Chairman

1.Hon LAW Chi-kwong was elected Chairman of the Bills Committee.

II.Any Other Business

2.The Bills Committee noted that the government had distributed a consultative paper on the proposed Bill to some 50 related organizations and that all respondents were in support of the introduction of the Bill. Many of the organizations had also submitted detailed comments on the matter of qualifications for registration. Members agreed that the Administration should provide a summary of the views collected for their reference and consideration. They also agreed to write to these and the following organizations to see if they have any further comments on the Bill:

2. The Hong Kong Veterinary Association; and

3. The China (Hong Kong) Veterinary Association.

3.The Chairman advised that Hon CHAN Yuen-han had given notification to withdraw her membership on the Bills Committee.

4.The meeting ended at 2:25 pm.
