I.Election of Chairman

Mr WONG Siu-yee was nominated by members present to preside at the election of the Chairman.

2.Mr WONG called for nominations for the chairmanship. Mr WONG Siu-yee nominated Mr HO Sai-chu, seconded by Dr LEONG Che-hung. Mr HO accepted the nomination. Mrs Elsie TU nominated Dr Raymond HO Chung-tai, seconded by Dr LAW Cheung-kwok. Dr HO accepted the nomination. As there were two nominations for the chairmanship, Mr WONG ordered a vote by secret ballot by the members present who had applied to join the Public Works Subcommittee (PWSC) on or before the deadline (30 July 1997). The 13 members present cast their votes; Mr HO Sai-chu and Dr Raymond HO received seven and six votes respectively. As Mr HO Sai-chu received a majority of the votes, Mr WONG declared Mr HO Sai-chu elected Chairman of the PWSC.

II.Election of Deputy Chairman

3.Mr HO Sai-chu took the chair and called for nominations for the office of the Deputy Chairman. Mr CHENG Kai-nam nominated Dr Raymond HO Chung-tai, seconded by Mr WONG Siu-yee. Dr Raymond HO accepted the nomination. There being no other nominations, the Chairman declared Dr Raymond HO elected Deputy Chairman of the PWSC.

III.Meeting dates of PWSC

4.The Chairman advised that the Clerk would liaise with the Administration and confirm with the Chairman as regards the dates of the PWSC meetings. The Clerk would inform members the meeting schedule shortly.

IV.Late membership

5.Mr NGAN Kam-chuen and Dr TSO WONG Man-yin requested to join PWSC with effect from 8 August 1997, as they had not been able to send in their applications to join the PWSC before the deadline due to absence from Hong Kong. The Chairman accepted their late membership in accordance with paragraph 4 of the PWSC Procedure.

6.There being no other business, the meeting ended at 2:30 pm.
