Public Health (Animals and Birds) (Amendment) Regulation 1998 (L.N. 44)

This Regulation requires a health certificate to be issued by a competent veterinary authority for any bird imported into Hong Kong by land, sea or air. The certificate must certify that the bird is free from any clinical sign of disease and has been kept in a place without evidence of H5 avian influenza virus infection and from other birds for appropriate periods and that a sample is diagnosed to be free from such infection. A maximum fine of $25,000 and forfeiture are imposed as penalty for any contravention of the new requirement.

Road Traffic Ordinance (Amendment of Schedule 8) (No. 2) Order 1998 (L.N. 50)

The Order reinstates the fees chargeable on certificates of roadworthiness issued in respect of private cars and light goods vehicles at the existing rate. The fees have been inadvertently removed from Schedule 8 to the Ordinance in 1995.

This Notice appoints 5 February 1998 as the day on which the 1997 Order came into operation.

The Order specifies the North District Hospital as a prescribed hospital under the principal ordinance.
