LegCo Panel on Food Safety and Environmental Hygiene meets U.S. Food Safety Import Surveillance officials (with photos)




The delegation of the Legislative Council Panel on Food Safety and Environmental Hygiene continued its duty visit in San Francisco, the United States ("U.S.") yesterday (10 March).

 

The delegation started the day by visiting food trucks including "Hongry Kong" during which the delegation members had exchanges with the operators to learn more about their day-to-day operations.  The delegation members also tasted traditional Hong Kong foods of "Hongry Kong".

 

In the afternoon, delegation members received briefings on work and measures of food safety surveillance respectively by Ms Cynthia FORD of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Ms Melinda MEADOR of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Delegation members were also briefed by Mr Dickins CHUN of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection on surveillance of imported food at ports of entry.

 

The delegation will conclude its visit in San Francisco today (11 March) after its meeting with representatives of the Infant Nutrition Council of America and visits to the SoMa StrEat Food Park and Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, San Francisco.
