The Legislative Council ("LegCo") Subcommittee on Matters Relating to Railways conducted a site visit to MTR Ho Tung Lau Depot at Fo Tan today (23 May) to tour the new East Rail Line train.

Members toured the new nine-car train and were briefed by representatives of MTR on the design and new facilities of the train, including the light-emitting diode ("LED") interior lighting, passenger information systems, custom-made dynamic route maps and improved grab poles.  During the visit, Members expressed concerns on issues relating to the capacity of the new train as well as the testing of the signaling systems.

Members who participated in the visit include the Chairman of the Subcommittee,　Hon CHAN Han-pan, along with the Deputy Chairman, Hon WONG Kwok-hing and the Subcommittee members, Hon Michael TIEN Puk-sun, Hon Gary FAN Kwok-wai, Ir Dr Hon LO Wai-kwok and Hon Alvin YEUNG Ngok-kiu, and non-Subcommittee members Hon CHAN Hak-kan and Hon Alan LEONG Kah-kit.
