At the invitation of The Elderly Services Association of Hong Kong ("ESAHK"), the Legislative Council ("LegCo") Panel on Welfare Services visited two private residential care homes for the elderly ("RCHEs") today (27 December) to better understand their facilities and services.
Members visited the facilities of the two private RCHEs located in Tsing Yi and Kwai Chung respectively, and exchanged views with the residents and their family members to understand their needs. Members were also briefed by frontline staff on their daily work and experiences in taking care of the elderly.
During the visit, Members met with members of the Executive Committee of ESAHK to exchange views on matters of mutual concern, including the Elderly Services Programme Plan – roles of private RCHEs; and how the LegCo Panel on Welfare Services can assist private RCHEs in improving their service quality.
Members who participated in the visit included the Chairman of the Panel, Hon SHIU Ka-chun, and Dr Hon Fernando CHEUNG Chiu-hung, who is a Panel member.
