At the invitation of the Administration, the Legislative Council ("LegCo") Panel on Welfare Services visited two private residential care homes for persons with disabilities ("RCHDs") today (6 March) to better understand their facilities and services.

Members visited the facilities of the two private RCHDs located in Kwai Chung, and exchanged views with the residents to understand their living conditions and needs. Members were also briefed by frontline staff on their daily work and experiences in taking care of persons with disabilities.

The Panel on Welfare Services discussed the quality problem of private RCHDs and related issues at its meetings on 1 November and 12 December 2016.  The agendas and discussion papers of the meetings can be found at the respective webpages as follows:

Members who participated in the visit included the Chairman of the Panel, Hon SHIU Ka-chun, the Deputy Chairman of the Panel, Hon KWONG Chun-yu, and Panel members Hon LEUNG Yiu-chung, Dr Hon Fernando CHEUNG Chiu-hung, Hon POON Siu-ping, Hon Alvin YEUNG and Hon YUNG Hoi-yan.
