LegCo Panel on Welfare Services visits Parent-child Contact Centre (with photos)
The Legislative Council Panel on Welfare Services conducted a visit to the Parent-child Contact Centre ("PCCC") under the Hong Kong Family Welfare Society ("the Society") today (27 June) so as to understand its daily operation.
Members took a look at the facilities of PCCC, and received a briefing by the representatives of the Society on the services provided by their Pilot Project on Children Contact Service such as the Supervised Exchange Service. Members also took the opportunities to discuss with responsible staff about the current limitations of PCCC's work and the difficulties encountered in arranging parent-child contacts.
With support from the Lotteries Fund, a two-year Pilot Project on Children Contact Service was launched by the Society in September 2016. The aim of the project is to assist the separated or divorced parents to rebuild and maintain healthy communication and contact with their children who can also have safe, conflict-free contact with their non-residing parent.
Members who participated in the visit included the Chairman of the Panel, Hon SHIU Ka-chun, Panel members Hon LEUNG Yiu-chung, Hon POON Siu-ping, Hon YUNG Hoi-yan and Dr Hon LAU Siu-lai.
