LegCo Panel on Welfare Services visits "Radiance Family" Family Care Home and Shun Lee Adult Training Centre cum Hostel of Fu Hong Society (with photos)
The Legislative Council Panel on Welfare Services conducted a visit to the "Radiance Family" Family Care Home and the Shun Lee Adult Training Centre cum Hostel ("Training Centre") of the Fu Hong Society today (13 July) to better understand the facilities and services provided.
Accompanied by representatives of the Fu Hong Society, members visited the facilities of the "Radiance Family" and the Training Centre so as to learn more about their operation and services. Members also took the opportunity to exchange views with the residents and staff of the service units, so as to understand the daily needs of persons with intellectual disabilities and the difficulties encountered by the staff in providing services.
Located at Kwun Tong, the "Radiance Family" and the Training Centre of the Fu Hong Society provide support services for persons with various levels of intellectual disabilities. The "Radiance Family" is a self-financing project which provides residential care services for adults with intellectual disabilities who are orphans or with ageing parents who can't take care of them. The Training Centre provides day training and residential services for persons aged 15 or above with moderate to severe level of intellectual disabilities.
Members who participated in the visit were the Chairman of the Panel, Hon SHIU Ka-chun; Deputy Chairman of the Panel, Hon KWONG Chun-yu; Panel members Hon KWOK Wai-keung, Dr Hon Fernando CHEUNG Chiu-hung, Hon POON Siu-ping and Dr Hon Pierre CHAN.
